FAQ

What is TENS Therapy?

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) allows you to treat your patients by stimulating nerves which send pain-blocking signals to the brain. TENS therapy is used to treat a variety of conditions including:

  • Acute and chronic back pain
  • Sciatic nerve pain relief
  • Muscular and disc syndromes
  • Arthritis
  • Shoulder pain
  • Many other painful conditions

What is EMS Therapy?

EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) uses low voltage to stimulate motor nerves to cause muscle contractions. This therapy is effective for treating conditions where an injured muscle experiences little or no movement. By using low voltages, EMS therapy helps in:

  • Muscle contraction and relaxation
  • Treating muscle atrophy
  • Enhancing muscle rehabilitation

What is Interferential (IFC) Therapy?

Interferential (IFC) therapy stimulates muscles using a wide variety of protocols and helps relieve deep tissue pain. This therapy involves deep tissue penetration that can be adjusted to stimulate nerve fibers, increasing blood flow and aiding healing. Common uses include:

  • Pre and post-orthopedic surgery
  • Joint injury syndrome
  • Cumulative trauma disorders
  • Increasing circulation
  • Pain control

What is Microcurrent (MICRO) Therapy?

Microcurrent (MICRO) stimulators treat chronic pain, post-operative pain, depression, anxiety, and stress. This therapy can:

  • Speed up the healing process
  • Reduce swelling and inflammation
  • Mask acute and chronic pain
  • Release muscle trigger points
  • Improve soft tissue regeneration

What is Ultrasound Therapy?

Ultrasound devices treat pain or spasms with deep tissue heat therapy. Ultrasound therapy creates heat deep inside the pain areas, providing unique pain relief. It is commonly used for:

  • Reducing muscle spasms
  • Enhancing tissue healing
  • Relieving chronic pain

What are Electrode Garments?

Electrode Garments are electrotherapy modalities that fit on the knee, elbow, hand, and foot. These garments send healing electrodes to the injured area, stimulating the joint and promoting the healing process. Available in various sizes such as socks, gloves, or knee/elbow sleeves.

What are Reusable Electrodes?

Reusable Electrodes are available in various sizes and come in cloth or foam. They are packaged in poly bags or foil pouches. Each packet contains 4 individual premium electrodes, with 50 packs in a box.

What are Lead Wires?

Lead Wires are essential for connecting electrodes to the TENS or EMS unit. They come in packages and include socket/pins, dispersive wires, and red treatment wires.

What Accessories are Available?

We offer a wide array of accessories to enhance your electrotherapy experience, including:

  • TENS lotions and gels
  • Sub Zero Cool Relieving Gel

How TENS Units and Electrotherapy Work

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) works by applying an electrical signal to the skin using electrodes. This stimulation prevents pain signals from traveling to the brain, effectively managing pain.

Conditions Treated by TENS

  • Labor pain
  • Joint pain due to injury or other ailments
  • Exercise-related muscular pain
  • Age-related pains such as arthritis
  • Chronic pain relief
  • Post-operative pain
  • Sciatica
  • Fibromyalgia

How Does TENS Work?

TENS units send electrical pulses via electrodes attached to the skin along nerve fibers, reducing or eliminating pain by:

  1. Suppressing Pain Signals: The electrical impulses block pain signals from reaching the brain.
  2. Stimulating Endorphin Release: The stimulation triggers the release of endorphins and encephalin, natural pain-relief chemicals produced by the body.

TENS units come with adjustable intensity levels and different pulse patterns to cater to individual needs, allowing for personalized pain relief. One of the significant advantages is the ability to self-administer treatment at home, avoiding the side effects associated with pain relief medications.
